Privacy Policy

StudyLoop turns YouTube videos into a learning workspace. This policy explains what the Chrome extension processes and why.

Information we process

When you sign in, we receive your Google account identifier and email address. We process YouTube video identifiers, titles, durations, the questions you submit, relevant spoken video content, recent conversation context, and operational usage records needed to answer questions and enforce daily limits.

Notes, bookmarks, viewing positions, and chat history are stored locally in the extension on your device during this beta. They are not synchronized between devices. Authentication, quota counters, account records, and administrator-selected AI model configuration are stored by the StudyLoop backend.

How information is used

We use the information only to provide StudyLoop, answer questions about the active video, enforce quotas, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, and protect the service. Video content and questions required for an answer are sent to OpenRouter and the selected AI model provider. When YouTube captions cannot be obtained directly, StudyLoop may use its server-side caption provider.

Sharing and selling

We do not sell personal information. Information is shared only with service providers needed to operate StudyLoop, including Google authentication, Amazon Web Services, OpenRouter and its selected model provider, and the server-side caption provider when required.

Retention and security

Local learning data remains on your device until you delete it, clear extension storage, or uninstall StudyLoop. Server account and usage records are retained while the beta operates and as reasonably required for security. Connections use HTTPS, service credentials remain server-side, and access to administrative functions is restricted.

Your choices

You can export or import local learning data from StudyLoop settings. You can delete local data by removing it in the extension or uninstalling it. To request deletion of server-held account and usage data, follow the data deletion instructions.
